City of Everett (COE)
Winter Quarterly Advanced Training

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Emergency Workers
January 14, 2016  –  9:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Event Address: Everett (Venue To Be Determined)
Registration Deadline December 31

Dear Everett CERT Emergency Workers:

The Everett Office of Emergency Management (EOEM) is excited to announce our Winter Quartlerly Advanced Training for our CERT Emergency Workers. The training will be on Janaury 14, 2016, starting at 9:30am. Please click on the link to register: https://goo.gl/forms/jwilSwwtPFmw2mvA2 . (Tip: If you have problems with the link, using a different browser may help.) There is also an attachment of the registration form that you pay print out and email back to rdoniger@everettwa.gov or fax to (425) 257-8136. If you have any questions or need any assistance, contact Rachael Doniger, phone: (425) 257-8117 or email: rdoniger@everettwa.gov.

There are three sections of training:

9:00am-11:30am SKYWARN WEATHER SPOTTER TRAINING

Skywarn (TM)  Weather Spotters are a National Weather Service (NWS) team of volunteers, trained to observe and report significant weather. Weather spotters support their local community and emergency managers by providing the NWS with timely and accurate severe weather reports. These reports are an integral part of the NWS mission to help saves lives and property through flood and weather watches, warnings, and advisories. For our Everett CERT Emergency Workers, it is our goal to use you in this capacity for weather related events.

11:30am-12:30pm Lunch – On your own.

12:30pm-2:00pm 3-WAYS TO 14-DAYS OF PREPAREDNESS (TRAIN THE TRAINER)

Have you heard 14 Days is the new target for personal preparedness? Yes, nationally, it has been 3 days for decades – but there has been updated information.  National disasters such as Hurricane Katrina and our recent Cascadia Rising exercise have demonstrated that the traditional 72 hours of emergency supplies is inadequate.  Everett Office of Emergency Management will be sharing ideas of how to prepare for 14 days.  For our Everett CERT Emergency Workers, this training will be for you to take to others when talking about 14-days of preparedness with others.

2:00pm-3:30pm WATER OPTIONS

Stay hydrated by gathering one gallon of water per person, per day. This instruction will cover the many options and ways to prepare an emergency water supply for 14 days.

RSVP BY DECEMBER 31, 2016

If you need assistance with registering or have any questions regarding CERT certification, contact: Rachael Doniger, Everett Office of Emergency Management, (425) 257-8117 or email rdoniger@everettwa.gov.
